ok...I know that it is a year after your post...but I completely agree. I read the summary of the movie. 1. It's not that strong of an idea for a third Conan movie. 2. HE KILLS A WOMAN! I have often thought that it is a bit annoying his refusal to kill a woman..for many have deserved a quick death in the least. Also think of how many men he has killed for slight offense. It's so Hollywood... True fans will always find their enjoyment in the books and comics. It's one of the last places in entertainment where things are not decided for you.

If you take the time and invest the energy to do it right, and maybe directly adapt a story from Robert E. Howard as closely as you can, you will be rich. Take a lesson from all the other fantasy films in the 80s that failed in the wake of Conan the Barbarian. Cheese doesn't sell.

It's ok if you're not happy with the way things are shaping up but your argument really makes no sense. Sorry, Casino Royale, Batman Begins, and Pirates are horrible examples that really don't help your case. They DID reinvigorate the franchises but not by doing anything different than this Conan movie is doing. That is taking a character, re-introducing him to us in a way that is in the style of the source material but no where near directly adapting it. This movie already is changing people image of Conan since the Average Joe thinks Arnold is Conan. You are not giving this movie a chance. It's fine to have idealogical differences with the film makers but it's misguided to act like they're "doing it wrong" just because they're not following your formula.
